The Province of Chiriquí is located to the southwestern extreme of the republic of Panama and possesses a surface of 8,653.23km2. To the north limits with the Province of Bocas Del Toro, to the south with the Pacific Ocean, to the east with the Province of Veraguas and to the west with Costa Rica.
This province presents different and extreme contrasts, like flat coasts and high mountains that exceed the 3,000 meters of height. The high lands of Chiriquí are of volcanic origin and these they occupy almost most of the central mountain range.
The smooth climate of the mountainous area is characteristic of the highest areas of the province; enjoyed fully in Cerro Punta, Volcan and Boquete.
In these zones the rain is abundant, almost nine months of the year, which contributes to make the climate on this region more pleasant. The diversity of the climate makes Chiriquí one of the most productive provinces of the country. The coffee of Boquete as well as the oranges, are considered among the best ones, along with strawberries of Cerro Punta.
On the other side, the cattle ranchs and the by-products of the same generate an important income to this region. Chiriquí is no doubts one of the richest regions of the country.
